Reviewing and Understanding Shaw Laminate Floors

This is a very legitimate question, indeed, considering the fact that wood paneling and tiling can really munch a large chunk of the family budget. But why spend, when you can laminate. Laminating redefined the concept flooring throughout the years since it left the palaces of Europe.

This is because of laminate’s impressive mimicry and realism of the real thing. Its designs are actually fine-grained photographs of wood or ceramic that even if you put them side by side with it, it will definitely look the same. And I tell you, it’s not that easy to tell the difference between the laminate from hardwood, brick or ceramic.

Several benefits of Shaw laminate flooring is that first (yes, I’ll put this first because we surely want to avoid this), with shaw laminate flooring you can go glueless because of its versalock technology which ensures tight locking of the floor panels on all sides without the use of gooey adhesives. It’s aluminum oxide covering protects the laminate from future tear. This makes the family to move freely across the house especially during busy days, without even being anxious of chipping the delicate panels off the floor.

Besides that, since its even more textured now than in the past, it gives you the feel of sophistication without the sophisticated price. It gives your house, an excellent finish, while at the same, not constraining your budget which can be spent on more important things like family and a college degree. Laminate floors is not also hard to care, it doesn’t even need waxing. Here are several tips that might help you in caring for your floor:

  • Never ever expose your floor to puddles of water because it can damage it permanently. Nevertheless, when you clean the floor, it’s always better to use a damp mop.
  • Avoid also using brooms because it moves the dirt grains across the floor thus, scratching the floor. Better yet, remove dirt by using a vacuum cleaner with a wand attachment or a dust mopping. This will ensure that grit does not gather in an unmanageable proportion thus, requiring you to resort to cleaning methods that will damage your floor.
  • Just a word of advice: you can use leg protectors for you tables and chairs. Not only will this lengthen the lifespan of your floor, but also your furniture.

Another advantage of shaw laminate flooring is that with proper care, aside from those suggested above, it is guaranteed to last for 20 years or more. This means that it will take 20 years or more before the seams will unlock, give in to the pressure of moisture and liquid spills, and for its color to fade and wear.

With these features, I would say that shaw laminate flooring is an innovation worth trying especially for those of us who are budget-conscious and who thinks meticulous cleaning is a problem. I, too, for one, think that time and money should be spent more on the most important things, instead of thing like these. So, why spend, when you can laminate?

Shaw Laminate Flooring Helps With Allergies

One of the many advantages of Shaw laminate flooring is it helps reduce allergens. Many people, who suffer from allergy problems, notice that if they have carpet in their homes, often their allergies are worse than if they have wood, tile or laminate flooring. Carpet has been known to trap allergens in the fibers of the carpet, making it almost impossible to vacuum them all away. Laminate, tile and wood floorings are easily cleaned by vacuuming and mopping, taking allergens along with it. Laminate, tile and wood floorings are also easier to keep clean and maintain than carpet, plus spills are much less likely to leave a stain.

We had a prebuilt home built home for us and decided to go with Shaw Laminate Flooring through out the house. What a big mistake Shaw is unwilling to stand behind there floor. They sent out a independant flooring inspector to examne the floor. Months went by and we did not here from them so we contacted them through our sales rep. and they decided to send out another inspector saying they did not get a report from the first however when we contacted the first inspector he said he filed and sent in the report. Shaw must not have liked the first report. The second inspector would not give us his name, but must have given Shaw the report they wanted because now they say it is the instalation that is the problem. However other flooring people that have looked at it say it the lockes on the flooring that is failing. Any not beleaving this can contact me and come and look at shaw flooring and what it doing. Makes me sorry I put in in the whole house now.

Shaw as soon as they fond out the company that built the house went out of business they saw there way out of the warenty by blameing it on the instalation. I would never in a million years recommend Shaw Flooring to anyone.

We noticed that our Shaw floor was delaminating and we had several places that were splintering up. They had an independent inspector come out. We were able to get a copy of the report and Shaw had the boards replaced. We didn’t know that the floor has been discontinued. Unfortunately we also had some installation issues on the new boards and before we knew it, we were out of stock. We noticed a new area where the board was delaminating. Shaw is going to replace the floor. This is great but what is not good is that the wood options do not match our color or style. At the upgraded level (with us putting in more money), we get a lot closer on color but style doesn’t match. Hopefully the replacement wood won’t give us as many issues as this one did (and we’ll be happy with the option).

Shaw laminate de-laminates within a few years and Shaw will not stand behind their warranty. (see complaints at http://www.complaintsboard.com). Shaw sends out an inspector, but they return the same finding in all the cases listed at complaintsboard.com. It’s always the homeowners fault for cleaning with too much water. I KNOW how I clean my Shaw Laminate and there is very little moisture used in the process, yet this is their common conclusion. I will never purchase a Shaw product again- ever!
