An Overview of Floating Bamboo Floors
I have come to appreciate the beauty of a floating bamboo floor. Floating bamboo floor – it sounds weird right? This kind of flooring though is in existence and it is laminated crossly much like a plywood. I definitely agree that these bamboo floating floors are more stable than others. The bamboo boards used for this type of flooring are wider compared to other bamboo floors. I find this a plus when it comes to installations.
Durability Factors
I am sure that like me, you have heard a lot of claims from bamboo flooring products that they are everlasting and super durable. Unfortunately, this is not true in some cases. Some manufacturers try to oversell their products. Also, every brand is different from another. I like a bamboo floating floor but I do not like all of what is offered out there.
Choice of Color
As for the choice of colors, floating bamboo floors come in numerous options. All I can tell you is that, floating bamboo floors are not of the same caliber and that when choosing the color just take note with the effect you want to attain. There are those with lighter hues, darker hues, and it is up to you to choose. If you are really hesitant about your choice, I suggest that you consult an expert that you trust.
Flooring and Sub Floor
Do you know what is so good about the bamboo flooring with floating floor system? They are very good for sub floors that are not that easily nailed to or glued to. This way, you can still enjoy the beauty of bamboo flooring even if your sub floor resisted the efforts.
Cupping
This is a distortion that will happen to bamboo flooring if exposed to too much moisture. Yes, I know you have heard of bamboo flooring being resistant to moisture but floating bamboo flooring involves wide planks, as mentioned above. If the planks are wider, they are more susceptible to moisture exposure and thus to cupping.
One of the main reasons why moisture can seep to your bamboo flooring is the improper use of adhesives during installations. So make sure that the installation process goes perfectly or you will be suffering in the long run.
Staining and Refinishing
Indeed you can refinish bamboo floors, so naturally floating bamboo floors can be refinished too. In fact the refinishing can be done many times, all depending to the thickness of the flooring’s layer of surface wear. If you want to change the color of the flooring, you can do so too. However, I recommend that you use the original hues as this would look better.
Affordability
A floating bamboo floor is definitely affordable. I am sure that you realize that bamboo flooring is becoming more popular and widely accepted. The demand for it is increasing and supply is no problem because bamboo is easily replenished. Bamboo can already be mature after about 5 or perhaps 6 years. So I guess this is the reason why floating bamboo floors are affordable.
