Heart pine can be seen in reddish colors tinged by the essence of time, simply amazing.
Other manufacturers use oak antique wood floors. Others still manufacture vintage hardwood flooring made of cypress, maple, chestnut, cherry and elm. Ä°ndeed, antique wood floors can become a trifle costly, but as I said, it is worth every penny.
Determining the Best
Since an antique wood floor is expensive, as a buyer you have to be meticulous in choosing your purchase. You have to acquire the best as possibly as you can. Here are some tips i have learned, tips for knowing what to look for in oprder to determine a high quality vintage wood floor.
Mills usually grade their wood so look for a higher grade. There are barn woods that are rough hewn and then there are beautiful planks that have heartwood in them. The latter is the best choice. However, if you have certain decoration tastes in mind, you may choose other grades. Ä°n order to determine the wood grade, you look at the growth rings. Ä°f you can see more than six, then that is a higth grade wood. Also take note of the color. Look for those rich in resin. Heartwood has a redder color compared to the orange or yellow sapwood. Also look for wood with few nail holes and small knots.
