Wood flooring is becoming the rage these days. Personally, I prefer wooden floors too. They look prettier and give a more natural feeling to your home. As for wood floor mats, I think they are very useful.

But first, let me make it clear to you that wooden flooring can go without floor mats, at least in some areas of the house. The most important function of a wood floor mat is to protect wooden floors. If an area in your house does not require its wooden flooring to be protected, then do not place mats.

This is because wooden flooring is already beautiful in itself. There are many types of wood that can be used for flooring. Bamboo can also be used for floor decorations. Also, many experts have the same opinion that I do about wooden floors. Wooden floors complement better with many other interior designs and furniture. Covering them up with floor mats will really depend upon the situation.

Speaking of these situations, there are a lot of reasons why like me, you should use hardwood floor mats in some areas of the house. Some of these reasons are the following.

Scratch Protection. Don’t you just hate it when you see your wooden floors scratched? I know I do. Yes there are now wooden floorings with excellent finishes and scratch proof systems. But you can only take a scratch proof finish to a certain level. A hardwood floor mat is then necessary. So as not to take away all the beauty of the wooden floor, you do not have to cover the entire thing. Just on the areas where you think could damage the floor much. Example is under furniture legs.

Moisture Protection. If you have a wooden floor, it is necessary to keep the humidity of the area more or less constant. This will prevent the wooden floor from becoming loose. So if your kitchen has wooden floors, I advise that you place wood floor mats in areas where liquid spills is anticipated. You may also want to place a wood stove floor mat, I know I did.

Hardwood floor mats should not be thought of as protection materials only. I happen to know some very nice mats for a wood floor. Protective mats are well and good but there are just some floor mats that you have to display in your home.

Yes, wood floor mats are placed ideally under chair legs to protect a wooden floor from being scratched and scraped. But as I said, there are hardwood floor mats that have to be the center of attention. One example is a custom made wood floor mat. I find custom makes very endearing because you get to display your tastes in matters. There are a lot of hardwood floor mats out there, but if you avail of a custom made one, it would be better. Remember though not to take away so much from the beauty of a bare wooden floor.
