Gym floor cleaners come in concentrate form which may be mixed with water before being applied to your gym floors. Some products, however recommend direct application. It is important to read and follow the instructions usually included with the product.
How to Apply Gym Cleaning Agents
To apply a gym floor cleaning agent on your gym floors, use a scrubbing pad, preferably one made of synthetic fibers. After application, immediately vacuum off the product from the floor, not allowing it to remain on the floor. You will need a wet vacuum for this. It is important to use as little water as possible when applying a gym floor cleaning agent. This can cause the wood to warp. After you have removed the product, rinse it off your gym floors and let your floors dry for 24 hours.
After drying, use a 120-grit sandpaper to sand off your floors. Clean all the resulting grit with a vacuum an apply a tack rag on the floor at least twice. After all the fine dust have been removed, apply your floor finish. There are some floor finishes which are specifically made for gym floors. Apply two to three coats using a lambs wool applicator. Between each coat, let the coat dry and buff off the coat with a 120-grit sandpaper. For the last coat, use a tack rag and vacuum the floors to finish.
